A 121 Letters membership gives you a pen pal, a community to connect with, and opportunities to make connection a more intentional part of your life.

We’ll thoughtfully match you with a pen pal and facilitate your correspondence through our private mail-forwarding system. And throughout your membership, you’ll have opportunities to connect with the broader 121 Letters community through shared mail experiences, charitable projects, and tools designed to help you slow down and connect in your everyday life.

Everything that comes with your membership

When you join, we’ll ask a few questions - including how often you’d like to write - and use those answers, along with location, to make a thoughtful match. We aim for: similar pace, different place, for pen pal matches.
Our goal isn’t for you to find someone exactly like you so we don’t ask for your specific interests. We hope you find someone who’s a good fit for the rhythm of letter writing while still leaving room for curiosity, surprise, and the fun of discovering someone different from you.
Getting to know someone new shouldn't require sacrificing privacy and security.
Every exchange with your new pen pal will be processed by 121 Letters’ private mail-forwarding service, allowing you to build trust at your own pace while keeping your personal information protected.
If you and your pen pal eventually decide to exchange addresses directly, that's completely your choice.
Every new member receives a thoughtfully curated Welcome Kit with everything you need to start your 121 journey, including:
- A Starter Guide to explain how your journey begins.
- An Intention Card to help you reflect on who you want to show up for this season.
- A Postmarked Moments tracker to celebrate the meaningful milestones you'll share throughout your membership.
- Address and privacy stickers to make sending your letters simple, secure, and low-friction.
Our Welcome Kit helps you get straight to what matters: building a meaningful connection, one letter at a time.
Four times each year, our members have the opportunity to participate in themed exchanges with the entire 121 community.
Themes may include:
- Favorite recipes
- Book recommendations
- Handmade bookmarks
- Holiday traditions
- Postcards from your hometown
Each exchange includes thoughtfully designed materials and simple instructions so participating is easy and enjoyable.
Each quarter, members can take part in quarterly charitable letter-writing projects that give you the opportunity to brighten someone's day through the simple act of sending a letter.

We'll coordinate the project - from finding an organization to providing the materials and instructions you need to participate.
Members receive mail from 121 Letters every month - in addition to the letters you’re receiving from your pen pal.
